2008 does not seem to be going well
Last week it was a power cut which, let's face it throws everything into mild chaos. Although with no traffic lights,
la circulation switched from aggressive to timid
This week it's water pressure; or rather, lack of it. It all started yesterday when an immediate neighbour knocked on the door to enquire whether I had steam coming out of the cold tap as well
Fortunately I did not but we sensed something was not as it should be
It turns out that because Thames Water had been told of a leak in the vicinity, they had reduced the pressure locally thus causing our main tanks to drain (usage exceeding supply)... good move, Thames Water
Currently, with the leak allegedly fixed, the tanks are beginning to refill and hopefully normal service will be resumed tomorrow but in the interim I've learned lots of interesting things about bars of pressure (Barman take note
) and the ongoing decline of utilities in the Metropolis, lack of investment in infrastructure and the ensuing cost of booster pumps
inter alia.
And I've missed my bath... again
