Now I remember why I built my own machine, makes it a hell of a lot easier to find drivers etc.

The only reason I was asking was that I misread the SATA firmware update on the HP site. its for a Samsung S166 hard drive which your machine may have previously had installed on it.

Unfortunately I've never used Linux so dont know about the diagnostic and setup tools on there although I'd guess there woudl be something to tell you the make of the drive.

Yoda is online (or was just now anyway) have you checked with him?
