The number of computers I've ended up stripping vista out of, it gets easier as it goes on although Media Centre Edition threw a hissy fit the one time I tried replacing vista with it.
Not so fast!
Buy cheap PC with Vista installed (HP Compaq dx2300)
Vista too slow even tho PC has 3GHz dual core and 2G RAM
Backup all Vista stuff and application data
Use HP utility to back up operating system
Insert XP disc
XP installation formats disc and then copies all files
XP won't boot
XP needs SATA driver to recognise disc even tho it has formatted and copied files to it
Spend hours finding SATA driver (still not found the right one)
Find SATA driver
Re-install XP, press F6 to add extra driver
XP won't read extra driver from CD – needs floppy
PC doesn't have floppy drive
Spend hours finding working floppy drive and cable
Hunt for 3.5” floppy
Copy files to floppy
Configure PC with floppy drive
Re-install XP, press F6, load SATA driver, format drive copy files
XP won't boot – wrong SATA driver
In despair decide to return to Vista and start again
Load HP Recovery DVD created earlier
Boot from recovery DVD, format disc, copy files
Disc won't boot
Now have worthless pile of shite
