Having watched the trend over the last year or so he's dead on when it comes to microtransactions. They are turning into the bane of modern gaming pushed by greedy companies that care more about squeezing the most cash out of their customer base and essentially making major new releases pay to win than they do about give said customers a good gaming experience.

It's just a cynical way of milking more cash out of kids.
