The universe is run by the complex interweaving of three elements. Energy, matter, and enlightened self-interest.

rubschin: Is it just me or does that video remind me of that Bomb the Arquettes sequence in South Park the Movie?
Well, whatever, nevermind

I mentioned this to Mort a while back as I figured it would appeal to him but now the older versions of Space Engine are free to download.

I've always liked playing around with stuff that lets you wander round on an epic scale. It's a different timewaster but one of the reasons I play Elite Dangerous as much as I have (aside from the nostalgia aspect) is that it uses a full sized model of the Milky Way as the play area so once you have a basic loadout fitted you can just pick a direction and go see what you can find. That game has been running for a little over 5 years now with thousands of players and they have explored less than half a percent of what is there. So I can see myself playing around with Space Engine for a good while yet before I buy the latest version.

Given how much he loves the show here's one for Nick. For some reason the nice people at Intel just gave me a copy so I've been giving it a go

I have to admit for some reason I suspect that watching Nick play this in VR would be amusing but it works with regular PC's now.

You don't think it would be amusing to watch Nick playing at being Captain Berk in VR?  rubschin:

To celebrate 35 years of Elite the original game is currently free from Frontier. I remember spending hours playing this on the Spectrum as a kid  cloud9:
