The universe is run by the complex interweaving of three elements. Energy, matter, and enlightened self-interest.

This falls into the, 'You had just one job...' category... ::)

For years the village lacked any signs and I was asked literally every day, "which way to the beach?", etc...

So the council has grasped this need and is now putting up signs everywhere which is excellent as tourists can now find their way around and I'm no longer having to give directions.

Having got the big things sorted (beach, village, amphitheatre, etc.) they have moved on to signs for the bogs, showers, wheelchair access, etc.

Yes...

The guy responsible (Wankah:) is upset that instead of heaping praise on him for doing his fucking job of putting the signs up, they are ripping the piss out of him for wasting our money...  noooo:

I guess the answer is obvious but why on a country whose first official language is Greek (and IIRC second Turkish) are the signs being put up only in English?

T3? (toadying to the tattooed tourists)

The official languages are Greek and Turkish. But all the signs (including road signs) are in Greek and English in the Republic (and just Turkish in the occupied areas).

In the Sovereign Base Areas some signs are in three languages...

I haven't actually been down to see it but I'm guessing there is an equivalent sign in Greek...
