worthy:
All religions get their manipulated and exploited extremes, more die in the UK from terrorism with professed Christian allegiance

Broad brushing isn't going to get anyone anywhere.

Broad brushing Islam as 'a religion of peace' won't get us anywhere either IMHO....

Nor will pandering to their constant state of 'being offended'....

Time we had open discussion about it without being branded racist or Islamaphobic for doing so....

Yes but worth noting that the Bible is worse than the Koran for advocating mindless bestial violence.  Also does anyone actually have an on the record quote of any leading politician saying Islam is the religion of peace?  Lots say it is a peaceful religion which is a big difference.
Well, whatever, nevermind

There....

I've edited my reply to say 'a religion of peace'..... ::)

But my comment remains.... Broad brushing Islam as 'a religion of peace' - when it clearly isn't - won't get us anywhere...

Nor will pandering to their constant state of 'being offended'....

I don't see that with Christianity - do you?

Do you actually see, hear or read of Christianity preaching some of the 'darker' parts of the bible on a day-to-day basis...?

OK as you ask, I think what you are referring to is the practice of some Islamic cultures to preach to the Hadiths - variable sets of documents with differing extrapolations of the ambiguous Koran.  But core Islam is the Koran and it most certainly does not have the Bible's obscenities of god ordering captured women and children to be killed except for young girls who were to be used as the god empowered victors "saw fit".  Nice.

And yes you do get some appalling ostensibly christian and jewish preachers.  Mainly overseas but Paisley had his moments.

But here's where I really come from.  I've met countless muslims over the years, unlike some supposed christians, not one has ever threatened me or advocated violence to others on religious or racial grounds.  Some have been damn good colleagues.  One I will always be in debt to for going out on a limb to act to save the life of a relative of mine.   I am never going to just sit by and see those people demonised by that white supremacist Weston just for them following the gist of the Koran, just like most Christians follow the gist of the bible and are good people too.

Weston and his cohort the football thug Lennon/Robinson have been and remain Trouble with a very big T.

I think Christians have moved on and accepted parts of the bible are not part of the modern lifestyle. Killing people because women are being educated seems a bit barbaric in modern life....hence the latest Nobel prize?  rubschin:

Possibly I have a silly outlook on the way different religions come to terms with the current world?   rubschin:

Yep

So many cultures use religion to control many for the benefit of a few and react very very badly if that usurped power is put at risk.  The less advanced the society the worse we see it and by and large it has fuck all with any belief in any God.

Not that long since we saw Catholics and Protestants killing each other in the UK by the hundreds each year, at least that's down to a trickle now.
Well, whatever, nevermind

You are correct...

Nobody is saying that all Muslims are terrorists...

...but the establishment is happy to suggest that the reverse is true - that any act of terrorism cannot be linked to Islam as it is 'A religion of peace'....

It is time to question that position.... we need a discussion about Islam and those 'good Muslims' that let extremism flourish in their community...

And we need to stop pandering to a religion that takes offence at just about everything....

Jim was less than happy to hear Nick would be coming back from work soon...
