Female logic and revenge
« on: May 18, 2007, 11:54:51 AM »
I know I'm probably opening pandora's box with this one but can someone explain this to me. Woman is narked off with her fiance so she decides to dump all his clothes into the harbour. Ok a little extreme but I've heard of women doing worse. Dumping his work van into the harbour as well, when she knew it didnt belong to him? Thats just bleedin stupid.

Quote
A Cumbrian couple's wedding plans are all at sea after the prospective bride dumped her fiance's work van, and all his clothes, into a harbour.
Following a pub row, Emma Thomason, 24, of Whitehaven, loaded her boyfriend's van with his belongings, then rolled it off a ramp at the town's marina.

The argument started when Jason Wilson, 24, wanted to stay out with friends and Miss Thomason wanted to go home.

Mr Wilson said his employer had been "very good" about the ?15,000 damage.

The first he knew of the incident was when he was called by his boss Graham Wilson, 29, who is not related.

The 24-year-old plasterer told reporters: "People had seen the van bobbing around in the water. They called the police, who contacted my boss.

"He was furious, but has been very good about it. I'm very grateful. Emma isn't sorry one little bit. She insists that I am the one in the wrong and that it is all my fault.

"She put every single last item of clothing I had in the back of the van. All I was left with were the clothes I was wearing.

"I haven't told her yet that the wedding is off, but I think she can put two and two together."

Harbour drained

The couple, who have been together for seven years and have two children, had booked a ?2,000 Caribbean honeymoon just 24 hours earlier.

Miss Thomason is now on police bail after being arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking without consent.

Police were called to the marina on Sunday night, but it took almost 20 hours to pull the van from the water in a difficult salvage operation, which involved partly draining the harbour.

Mr Wilson's boss admitted he was struggling to see the funny side.

He said: "I'll be asking Jason for an explanation but he's not to blame. She has her own car - why didn't she load his stuff into that and drive it into the marina?

"I just hope the insurance company is prepared to pay out."

. .opening Pandora's box
I have never been quite comfortable with that phrase. redface:

The story is no surprise really. A Cumbrian unmarried mother of 2 betrothed to a plasterer is unlikely to have a 3 figure IQ.

Even if she did, a woman who has been disobeyed by her spouse, in a pub, is rarely rational.

I also recommend the free lunar calendar given away with "What Heifer Monthly" for noting the days to avoid marital conflict. ;)

I can't see why she took this to such an extreme - unless there was more to it eg he had slept with her best friend, he had slept with many other women etc...

My best friend's mum was dating a local councillor and he cheated on her.  She dumped a load of manure into his very expensive open top sports car which was sitting on the 'bit on the side's' drive.  First my friend knew about it was me laughing hysterically down the phone about it - it had been in all the national papers.  My friend was not so happy! 8)

I think that is taking the right to be outraged too far.

There are plenty of things that can be done to extort revenge without resorting to criminal damage.

I hope she is charged and convicted and made to pay for the damage, cool her impulses a bit.

I wouldn't want to marry a lunatic like that, I would be afraid of what she considers to be a suitable encore...

In answer to your question Olga,

Prometheus was a Titan who really liked humans. He helped them in any way he could. When he saw them shivering at night and eating raw meat, he knew they needed fire. But the gods did not allow man to have fire. They knew that man would misuse it and destroy with it. Prometheus was sure that the good man did with fire would outweigh the bad, so he stole fire from the gods and gave it to man. Zeus decided to punish Prometheus with trickery. He called Aphrodite to pose while Hephaestus made a clay figure of a woman. Then he brought the statue to life. The gods granted the woman with many gifts including beauty, charm, cunning, wit, eloquence, deceit, skill, and curiosity. Then Zeus gave her a box and told her she was never to open it. Zeus then offered Pandora as a wife to Prometheus.

The Titan wanted her, but he refused because he knew it must be a trick of the gods. Zeus became angry and punished Prometheus. The Titan was chained to a rock. There, a vulture came daily to feed on his flesh. Prometheus's brother, Epimetheus, accepted Pandora as his wife, and the couple settled down for a happy life. But Pandora always wondered what was in the box Zeus gave her. Finally she couldn't hold her curiosity down anymore. She opened the box, and from it flew hate, anger, sickness, poverty, and every bad thing in the world. She slammed the lid down and managed to trap the final evil still in the box: hopelessness. So today, even when the going gets tough, every human still has hope.

I could say that all the ills in the world are therefore the fault of women but Wenchy is getting far too proficient with that whip  scared:

They were certainly blessed in those days with the proficient fable tellers that they had.

Far less boring than the Bible and just as effective at getting the message across.

Good post.

There now, well done, you always knew those years getting your degree in Greek Mythology would come in handy. ;)

We are all very proud of you Grumpmeister.

Now if I could just have those two Big Macs and Banana milkshakes please. . .  .

No degree, I'm just a mine of useless information. For some reason I've never figured out it tended to come in handy when I was a student nurse.
