Vista service pack 1 is about to be released Barman. Your problems may be about to solved or made a lot worse.

I know a bloke who has installed the beta version and says the results are favourable.

We shall see.  scared2:

I have to admit I did acquire a copy of Vista just to see if it was worth me getting a legitimate copy and in ite defence I would say its far more secure than XP.

Mainly because it wont let yo do anything. The reason they called it Vista is that most of the time all you can do is look at the pretty desktop because its decided you arent authorised/intelligent enoug or are Nick  Banghead

I do like the hacker community though, the main reason microsoft has been banging out Vista to the gaming community is because of DX10 and saying that their new games like Halo 2 and Shadowrun need Vista to run as a result. The hackers have already back engineered the fixes proving that Microsoft are just money grabbing buggers blagging to the more gullible members of the gaming community.

There is a lot of software that won't run if you install SP1 - MS have a list somewhere. There are some benefits, such as slightly quicker file transfer but overall Vista is still a crock of crap. Corporates are still avoiding it and trying to stay with XP.
Still I probably won't be having to face this problem soon.

I seem to remember a similar problem with the early version of SP2 for XP.

SP2 was huge - how big is the Vi$ta SP1?

No, buying a Dell was the start of all your problems with the now disposed of DELL.  point:

Probably even bigger. Remember Microsoft's Law, any new operating system will need to be completely 'repacked' if purchased in the first 5 years after the initial release.

I'm guessing you had the original vesion of SP2 then Snoop. Either that or Dell buggered up the original install and recovey disks.

Bastards!  Banghead

That'll make XP even slower! I'm sure they add a load of NOPs to it in every 'update'...  cussing:

There is a rumour that SP3 will give XP a lot of the Vista functionality  scared2:
