Here is a nice picture :

The orange and blue arrow is where TG's desk is. The yellow arrow is the vacant building where the pikeys (allagedly) were working.

The green arrow is about where the fire was.

As you can see if the big building goes up while we are here we may have to jump out the back windows into the canal.  eeek:

As you can also see, TG has got fvck all to do today exept make piccy's.  point:

If those pictures come from satellites passing overhead, why does the chimney not look like a circle of bricks with a black hole in the middle?

As i understand it the sattelite pics merge with ariel photographs as you zoom in. Perhaps you should email live.maps.com and tell them to get it right.  ::)

They saw the fire, already know you talk to Nick and took the appropriate precautions. First of which being photographic surveillance from what is hoped to be a safe distance.  whistle:

The fire started in a building next to an empty 5 storey Victorian factory unit that is about 50ft from my desk. Some pikey's (allegedly) have been using cutting equipment to remove anything metallic from the building for the last couple of weeks.

The fact is if the fire brigade hadnt got the fire out quickly it would have spread to the 5 storey building and i would prolly be typing this from home.

Fire started about a half hour after they left.

Note the article mentions another major fire across the road. Also a disused Victorian unit.

Funny thing is these buildings and others around here are :

A/ Listed
B/ Empty
C/ In a major redevelopment / regeneration area

Funny how these old buildings spontaneously combust ain't it?

http://tinyurl.com/344lup

The pikeys (allagedly) were last seen this morning lurking a couple of hundred yards from the building looking somewhat nervous.  point:

Yep, convenient isn't it? The bonded warehouses in Newcastle quayside also have a track record of spontaneously combusting too. There was also an interesting article in this month's Whisky Magazine (eyes: ) about Littemill Distillery in Glasgow being "burned down by juveniles" one year after the site was aquired by a property developer.  ::)

God knows how much these people cost the taxpayer. IIRC there were about 14 engines called out to the biggest Newcastle blaze.

We may be in for a sequel to this story very soon.

Most of this listed victorian building has now had most of windows knocked out and is being filled with old tyres.

The fire brigade say this is SOP. The broken windows to allow air flow and tyres to create thick smoke so the fireman cant get close.

The company have been frantically checking its insurance and I have taken extra backups in case a 5 storey brick factory falls on my servers tonight.  scared2:
