To be fair Wenchy, there wasnt anything in the OP that was belittling really. You just said that the present list had nothing under £50 and you didnt know them that well.  noooo:

It is the children that are always the giveaway. My mother always claimed to be 39 but eventually conceded to being 41 until I pointed out that I was 35  eeek:

My parents added a year to their wedding anniversaries. I always wondered why there were no wedding photos. My Mum was 6 months pregnant noooo:

After my Grandparents died and we were going through their paperwork my Dad discovered that his parents hadn't actually got married until he was about six years old.  eeek:

At the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm we never got to meet our parents   sad24: I think my father may have been a straw .... at least that was the rumour

My younger sister got married when pregnant. She was given a hard time. When she confronted my Mum with the evidence of her own state at the time of her wedding (1938) my Mum's retort was "Well so was your grandmother" eeek:

My oldest is 40 this year. The youngest was 7 in January.

It is known as the triumph of hope over experience  ::)
