Veteran actress Anna Massey, renowned for a wide range of roles from lonely spinsters to Margaret Thatcher, has died at the age of 73 after battling cancer.

Sad, I thought that she was a good actress.
I have always thought that the worst thing about drowning was having to call 'help!' You must look such a fool. It's put me against drowning.

Why do the media always speak of people having died as "Battling" with cancer but those who die of all other causes are said to have died after a long or short illness?

Life itself is a battle and one we all know we are going to lose in the end.

Yesterday my mate Arkwright sent me a text asking if the Easyjet from Glasgow landed in the North or South terminal. I told him it was the South and as luck would have it, I was in charge of the offload. He then told me to look out for 2 bags in the name of "Lyndsey". So I did and they went up the reclaim belt first and foremost. I thought no more of it.

Today Arkwright sent me a text saying the reason he enquired was that he was picking up the 2 Lyndseys from the airport as they are relatives of his next door neighbour - and good friend of mine - Ewan.

I had a couple of beers with Ewan last Thursday.

Now he's clinically dead and they're turning the machines off. He was 46 and recently became a grandfather.

'Bye mate.
