No. He was a loner.
he was engaged to a girl during the 2nd WW, but she was tragically killed by a bomb whilst tending to the injured in an ambulance.
He NEVER got over it, stating that 2nd best would never do, but also that he wished he'd been allowed to marry her and have a family.
I felt a tear in my eye reading that.
A thouroughly decent intelligent guy.
