I was a bit older (12) but still find that whole horrible day stunning and not a little piss boiling.  I'd like to think that I'd be like that guy and stay in the room to help the kids get out first but faced with that advancing wall of slag I suspect for me other options of just freezing/shit myself or scarpering first might have been possibilities.  Hopefully I never ever find out.
