Doorbell goes. Off I go to answer it.

Man says, "Nick?????"

I confirm this

"I am Mrs Nick's cousin."

I have never ever seen this guy in my life.He could be anyone. He then produces a wife and baby and seeks admittance.

Mrs Nick appears and looks more suspicious than usual.

"I am your cousin"..

 

Penny drops

Turns out she last time she saw this chap was in 1983 and has heard nothing from him since.

Coffee and biscuits dispensed. Some chatter about family deaths and off they went.

All very odd

It cannot have been easy as you haven't lived there that long and it certainly was not a "Whim" or a "Just thought we'd say hello because we were passing" ~ It has to be a positive decision to get to your place as it is not actually "on the way" to anywhere is it.
