Just got back from the midnight screening of Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2.
Set 4 months after the first film this one continues pretty much in the vein and even without the novelty, there is still enough fun and laughs to keep the audience amused. Baby Groot's dance number while all hell is breaking loose around him pretty much steals the opening scene and does carry on the dancing Grootlet/Drax scene from the original.
http://youtu.be/6dQK8TCTuTYAs fun as the film is I think that if like me you haven't grown up with the comic series then the plot will seem to be a little erratic, lurching from one misadventure to the next until the megalomaniacal plot is revealed. Bringing back Yondu and Nebula as well as the addition of Mantis does change the dynamic of the film, especially the ones with Yondu and Rocket, giving more of an insight into the past of some of the characters as well as lining up a raft of insults and one liners throughout the proceedings.
Arguably I'd say this probably the funniest Marvel film released so far and given how grim the storyline is going to get during the upcoming infinity war trilogy is a good change of pace.
I will admit I'm curious to see if the Howard the Duck cameo means he's either being included in the infinity wars films or is getting a spin off of his own.
Overall it's flashy, colourful and fun, just as a warning though, there isn't just the one post credit scene this time.
