Safari Supper

Anybody done one of these things – we did last night.  cloud9:

Opened an envelope yesterday morning to find out where you are going for ‘starters’.

Turned out to be the most amazing setting at a house overlooking the sea at Coral Bay. After starter – prosciutto, melon, champagne, white wine with six others we got another envelope with our main course destination.

So, all those at the starter headed off in different directions. We were directed to a lovely house in the foothills above Coral Bay for ‘Turkish Lamb’ eeek: with rice and loads of red wine to wash it down.

Another envelope. The idea of the whole thing (takes loads of organising) is that you don’t see the people you eat with again until you meet up all together for coffee and liqueurs.

So we headed off to another fantastic location high in the hills above Pafos for dessert of strawberries, cheese and biscuits and more red wine (hic). We could see the lights from the town below us and an amazing star-filled sky above.

After dessert we opened the last envelope to find we were staying where we were. Eventually everybody else that had been driving, pissed-up all around the countryside turned up (49 in all) for coffee and brandy.

Excellent!

Can't say I've heard of the concept before BM, I presume you meet new people and make new friendships along the way

I had a pint and a bacon bap at the rugby (driving  cry:)
Home-made smoked mackerel patē and toast on the patio with a bottle of Spitfire (8 for £8 at Morrisons)
A nectarine in the kitchen
Then under the starlit sky rejoined the Mrs on the patio for another two Spitfires (8 for £8 at Morrisons) while picking away at marinated olives and mushrooms

Sounds lovely... especially the Spitfire...  cloud9:

We used to do something similar in Spain, but all in the same housing area so that it could be done on foot. I was never allowed to partake. All the children were waiters or chauffeurs for the elderly.

We had bbq butterfly of lamb, with new potato salad, pea and broadbean salad. The others had cointreau chocolate cheesecake for puds. I had fruit, with no cream.  noooo:
