Ubuntu!
« on: June 20, 2008, 12:43:05 PM »
Right. I have just burned my Installer CD and given it a quick run on a work PC.

Tonight I intend to set up a dual boot on my older laptop which is a bit slow on XP. Will it run faster with Linux? All I do with it is attach it to my wireless network and access web pages and possibly MSN or equivalent.

Has anyone done this? How frightened should I be?  scared2:

Ummm...

It will work great - much faster than XP.

Just one thing about dual boot tho... don't do it!  scared2:

I've had a couple of problems with dual-booting XP/Linux...

Thats not a very nice thing to say about LL  whistle:

To be honest most of the people I know who have used Ubuntu for work machines tend not to go back to XP. The only ones I know who have gone back or tried dabbling in dual boots are game heads.

People who play computer games on their PC's Darwin. I admit I do personally come under that category.  redface:

In that case I'm almost afraid to mention that one of the games I'm currently playing is called Stalker. God knows where you are going to end up with that Darwin.  eeek:

Not much luck so far.

I almost hesitate to ask for advice from the techno guru's on here. It's a bit like asking for technical support from the fvcking chuckle brothers.  lol:
