Today's dinner was planned yesterday whilst getting stuff in from the big freezer (which is out in the garage) Came across a huge leg and shoulder of lamb given me by a friend in the village who rears a dozen every year. Usually the gifts come fresh but this one had been in her freezer so I just popped into ours and had forgotten it. Had it been fresh killed I'd have got Lil Bruv to trim and joint it for me. Anywhoo, the damned thing was hooooge, used a massive (from our catering days) roasting pan and cooked it for 5 hours.
My portion was one slice of meat, one half of a roast tater, spoonful of carrots and peas & a spoonful of Savoy cabbage.
Instead of the strawberry cheesecake on offer I had a cup of black tea. Even the smallest boy eats three time the amount I consume at each meal.
Meanwhile if anyone wants some cold lamb, off the bone as the dog has first dibs on that, just pop round. It is genuine Welsh Lamb known to me personally as I spent many an hour leaning on the fence, smoking me pipe and watching the little buggers play during the last spring.
