Round the World night at the pub.  This week:  France

back later
Nice yummy  cloud9:

We got some pastry things (in place of snails) in Ratatouille; butternut squash (in place of chicken) Chaiseur, Root vegetables (in place of beef) Bourguignon,  le Puy lentils and Dauphinoise potatoes (so no Pommes Frites BM) and it was tres Yummy.  All for £7.50 each

Tarte Tatin with Calvados was the desert and we cheated and just had a boulle of the boozy ice cream for £2.   Walked out spending less than £25 + tip

Globe and Rainbow, superb pub, lovely couple that work their hearts out running it with great staff and great food.

Thumbs:  imagine how good the real stuff was ........ rubschin:
Yep, but i never ate snails so no idea how to imagine that bit
Well, whatever, nevermind

Are snails chewy like Squid is?

Please don't say they're like Mussels as I've never eaten them either.  But I have eaten squid - the stuff you chew and chew and chew . . . . . .  . and day turns to night and you chew and chew and chew . . . . . .  and winter comes and goes and spring returns and still you chew and chew and chew . . . . . .

So I guess not
Well, whatever, nevermind

If the squid you had was that chewy then it was overcooked.  noooo:

Snails are gorgeous.  cloud9: Our local fruit and veg market has a big container full of mountain snails. They are massive at the moment. The taste and texture of a snail all depends on what they eat. If you pluck them out of the garden, they ming, but the ones from the hills feed on grass and herbs and are lovely. plucked out of the shell with a toothpick and dipped in lemon juice. nom nom nom  cloud9:

And they do taste a bit like mussels, sorry,
