I spent yesterday mainly in bed, reading, listening to the radio and generally feeling sorry for myself. At about 8pm I'd had enough, took a sleeping pill and dropped like a shot bird. Wife came to bed at 11 and made so much noise that even the sleeping pill could not keep it out. She woke me and I could not get off to sleep again. Within minutes she was snoring away and I lay there with headphones on listening to Radio Four, Sailing By, Shipping forecast etc. Then the Anthem, then all sorts of stuff on the BBC World Service until at 4am they went over to the Test Match in India ~ delayed start due to poor light. I stayed with the cricket until kids had gone to school and then got up. I am knackered.
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

Exhausted here too. Got up a 3 and came in the lounge as I was keeping Mr Wench awake. Put tv on, played on the net, filed photos, was still awake when he got up at 7.  noooo: At this stage it just isn't worth going to sleep I will feel the worse for it. So am loading up on caffeine and will probably fall asleep in the car.

Tonight the THW is going out with b/f and his parents. Today she is on "study leave" (in other words the fecking school can't be bothered to have the kids in today because they have finished their mocks) so has gone shopping with her mother to buy a "suitable" outfit (as opposed to the usual jeans etc). Boys are at school. Elder one reluctantly (more of that story another day) and the younger one eager to take part in the finals of the school talent comp. His talent? He sits on the floor, places first one and then the other foot behind his head and, sticking his head out between his raised legs, just above his elevated arse, he plays Silent Night on the recorder. It has to be seen to be believed. His reluctant brother intends to tell the school that they are not related but that we actually found the little one on a bus.
Meanwhile they are all off to see MiL tomorrow so I have a day of peace before me.

I dunno what we will be having for dinner.

I can't do that to him ~ he's only seven and would have to live with it for the rest of his life.

1. Worth putting on Youtube

2. Has he ever seen the show at the Pink Panther bar in Alexandria? (You may even remember it yourself, around 1970?)
