If your cooker broke down you'd eat out until it was fixed wouldn't you? Same thing really.  whistle:

Sadly that is the case. Other than fishfingers last night we have had takeaways. Last night Mr Wench had dinner with my Bro before their football match.

Tonight I am cooking for myself as Mr Wench is off to Wales for a funeral early tomorrow morning. Meatballs, rice and tomato sauce ala school dinner. I am still feeling the need for comfort food.

Same thing used to happen when Mother Wench was ill/away.  noooo: Until I was "old enough" to take over.  noooo: I still remember the first time she went away and when I asked what was for dinner being told whatever I was cooking for the three of us.  noooo:

It's Friday.
The last thing I want to do is start cooking.
It'll be an Indian.  cloud9:

I don't go for the ones that tend to purge the system, like; I prefer the cooler, aromatic varieties.

A propos of hot foods and taste, I was listening to Medical Matters on R4 last week - it was devoted to the sense of taste. They were saying that the possible reason some folk can handle very hot / bitter tastes was because they lack the taste buds that detect them. So much for bravado and the hot curry, eh?
The fifth taste, after the traditional Sweet, Sour, Salty & Bitter has only been verified in the last hundred years. It's Umami or Savoury. The Chinese have known this for a couple of millennia of course  ::).

I agree about not going for the purgatives but this was one that sort of crept up on me unexpected like.

SWWLTBO decided to cook tonight after I had said "When I pick up the daughter later shall I get us a ruby?"
She made no reply but vanished into the kitchen there to prepare, or so I thought, the boys tea. Within the half hour a steaming dish of curry and rice was placed before me with the words "Why spend money getting a takeaway?"

I suppose I could have told her but I felt that as she had taken the trouble, made the effort etc. I should, in the interests of harmony for the rest of the weekend, eat the bloody thing  sick2:.

Not at all what I had in mind.

ALSO
I have yet to break the news that I am meeting lil bruvver for brekky and thence to some timber clearing at his old house tomorrow.  whistle:
