Chicken, tied up in a ball  rubschin:

Shounds like a bit of Bondage to me, Mish Moneypenny  8)

Look, I didn't tie up the chicken - or 'bone' it!  evil:

Well did you enjoy it?  spider:

Delicious!  cloud9:

Only ?7 too... enough for cold chicken and CHIPS tomorrer like...

Wassat in English money like?
I dunno... You can't do a direct comparison as all out old Cyprus Pounds were changed at a fixed rate...

If you use an on-line converter it would say about six quid at today's rate...

Quote
    *   2 FOR ?7
    * ASDA British Whole Chicken
    * (1.55kg)
    * WHOLE BIRDS - 2 FOR ?7- Valid until 31/12/2010

    * ?4.48
    * (?2.89 per 1kg)

You're right, I should have flown 2,000 miles back to the UK and bought one...  ::)

However, this was 2?Kg of all meat so the price actually compares quite well... t would have been about ?4.80 using our exchange rate...

That's more or less how I worked it out. Interesting as I thought the cost of living was much, much lower there than here but clearly not when it comes to food ~ which is why I asked about the exchange rate. Housing seems as expensive too but the taxes etc seem lower. Are fresh veg, fruit and such cheaper would you say?

Some prices here.

A lot of stuff is cheaper... diesel was ?0.90 this morning...

Council tax is ?150 per year...

Fresh local fruit and veg is very cheap...

Income tax is 10% after a ?10,000 allowance...

Beef and pork very cheap, lamb expensive...

As I said, you have to remember that the Pound is fucked against the Euro so converting ? to ? makes stuff seem more espensive here than the locals find it. Lots of expats that live off a UK pension are really struggling at the moment...

That is interesting .... Thanks.

Lil Bruvver and I were talking, on the phone earlier, about his upcoming retirement and he has always loved Cyprus. He was telling me of his thoughts to perhaps move to Switzerland where he has a daughter and grandkids but the cold and cost of living are off putting. He is looking to move, play golf and work part time as a butcher and that would also be  problem in Switzerland where they are not keen on non locals unless they have $millions. I suggested Cyprus and when you mentioned meat it started me thinking again.

Chances are that like me he'll sit here until it is too late then end up in a Park Home in Dorset because that'll be all he or I will be able to afford thanks to ex wives and 12 years of nulabour.

Encourage him to come out for a look-see...

That's what I did and never looked back...

Butcher you say? - does he have a 14lbs sledge-hammer? Perfect here for the Souvla!! No need for knives -they get skinned in the traffic!
