Chicken, tied up in a ball
Shounds like a bit of Bondage to me, Mish Moneypenny
Look, I didn't tie up the chicken - or 'bone' it!
Well did you enjoy it?
Delicious!
Only ?7 too... enough for cold chicken and CHIPS tomorrer like...
Wassat in English money like?
I dunno... You can't do a direct comparison as all out old Cyprus Pounds were changed at a fixed rate...
If you use an on-line converter it would say about six quid at today's rate...
* 2 FOR ?7
* ASDA British Whole Chicken
* (1.55kg)
* WHOLE BIRDS - 2 FOR ?7- Valid until 31/12/2010
* ?4.48
* (?2.89 per 1kg)
You're right, I should have flown 2,000 miles back to the UK and bought one...
However, this was 2?Kg of all meat so the price actually compares quite well... t would have been about ?4.80 using our exchange rate...
That's more or less how I worked it out. Interesting as I thought the cost of living was much, much lower there than here but clearly not when it comes to food ~ which is why I asked about the exchange rate. Housing seems as expensive too but the taxes etc seem lower. Are fresh veg, fruit and such cheaper would you say?
Some prices
here.A lot of stuff is cheaper... diesel was ?0.90 this morning...
Council tax is ?150
per year...Fresh
local fruit and veg is very cheap...
Income tax is 10% after a ?10,000 allowance...
Beef and pork very cheap, lamb expensive...
As I said, you have to remember that the Pound is fucked against the Euro so converting ? to ? makes stuff seem more espensive here than the locals find it. Lots of expats that live off a UK pension are really struggling at the moment...
