My Dad used to hate it, making his jowls wobble in disgust  ;D . I, on the other hand love it  cloud9: . Try it hot with a lightly thickened sauce  Drool:

I adoooooore beetroot. what was the sauce?

This sort of thing:
"For a snappy hot vegetable accompaniment, fry sliced cooked beetroot in butter, sharpen with red wine vinegar, and sweeten with sugar. A good grind of black pepper sets it off a treat. Try serving it with roast pork and rich game dishes."
Bit of  cornflour to thicken

lovely. thankyou

Umm I too love it, cooked or raw.  My mother did once make me try beetroot in blackcurrant jelly.  That was deffo sick2: but she is weird like that.  I on the other hand am not a bit like her. angel1

My father used to peel an onion and eat it like an apple but then he  also used to clean his teeth with Ajax once a week. eeek: noooo:

Given that he drank black tea and coffee and smoked up until 1983 I suppose it was cheaper than tooth whitening toothpaste. confused:

Dinner Party last night:  mushrooms on toast in sauce, salmon en croute, almond apple tart white chocolate icecream and caramel sauce, sticky toffee sponge with toffee sauce and more home made icecream... we never made it to the cheese board.
