A jacket spud should never be microwaved.

rubschin:

I'd say not just microwaved.  Would you accept has to be finished off in the oven to get the jacket crispy?
Well, whatever, nevermind

I'll go with that. It's got to be crispy.

Problem is it's also got to be on time and just pure cooking them takes forever.  Which probably says more about my impatience then anything else.
Well, whatever, nevermind

We've got a clever microwave/oven/grill jobbie with a 'Jacket Tater' setting... Cooked and crispy in just a few mins...  cloud9:

We bought a stupidly expensive Miele bult in one.  Here's a list of all the clever things it does

I had a brilliant one in the UK (Panasonic?) that you just selected jacket tater and it did them perfectly... That was 20+ years ago...

When we came here we bought the Miele equivalent (micro/oven/grill) but being made in Greece it didn't have a jacket tater option but you could set it to full power and oven to get the same effect...

In the apartment we have a clever 1,000W Panasonic again (bought from the UK) which has a jacket tater option but you have to weigh them and tell it what you are putting in... Seems somewhat of a backward step but it does cook them perfectly...  cloud9:

We had a Panasonic and it was brilliant but gave it away when we redid the kitchen  cry:

The Miele is so dim it can't even do multi-step cooking unless you pre programme it into the one favourite programme it'll allow and that takes ages and any power cut and it promptly forgets it

But it looks good and matches the steam over (another thread maybe)
Well, whatever, nevermind
