Our heating comes on at 0630 and goes off at 0830. Back on in the evenings at 1800 and off at 2130.
Seems pointlessly expensive to run it to heat the entire house throughout the day when only two of the 11 rooms will be in use so we use the old fashioned but very pleasant to sit by fires in the two rooms that we tend to spend most time in.
I have already lit the fire in the study. Logs, though not cheap, cost much less than oil for the boiler.
Heating oil has gone up from 16 pence a litre to 51 pence a litre in 9 years.
Logs have remained much the same price in that time
