We have an indoor coal shed that we use for logs. It is room height, 3'6" wide and 6' deep. We fill that each month during the winter to supply logs to both rooms without having to go outside. We keep a stock, built up over the year outside. Top up deliveries from our supplier monthly during Nov, Dec, Jan and Feb..... or as he has decent wood available.
Wood costs me about £500 pa. Oil for the central heating comes in at about £1200pa. It is cheaper to heat the rooms in use, using fires, during the day rather than the whole house which has 12 rooms plus hall, landing and stairs.
