Nice day here. Rain forecast for the late afternoon ~ 'spect that will come in with the tide.
High clouds but plenty of sunshine ~ the family have gone strawberry picking so an evening of jam making looms.
Just as well as they are on their last pot of last year's homemades now (started it yesterday)
You really can't better it ~ home made jam from local grown fruit. No additives, No E numbers, No preservatives except sugar. No added pectin 'cos we always add some pectin loaded fruits to those that need the "lift".
Last year we made Strawberry, Raspberry, Red Currant, Blackberry n Apple and Gooseberry Jams and then MrsS#2 spotted some Apricots in the local market so bought 4 lbs and made them into jam as well.
We may be wrong but we firmly believe that it is better for the children than shop bought jam and they get the pleasure of the picking and making as well.
'Spect TG will be at the onions again this year.
We will be pickling eggs and making tomato chutney again of course. (The Chutney sells well at the school Christmas Fete as does Mrs S#2's fat free Mincemeat)
