Prefer spirits, wine or a nice cup of tea?

All of those tbh., but coffee rather than tea.

Fair 'nuff ~ I like a "drink" but mostly can't because of the pills but my pubs always had a pot of coffee on the bar for those that wanted it. From a business point of view this was also a good move as the coffee cost about 5pence to make and serve (including washing cups etc) whereas a pint cost me 75pence to put in front of the customer. It doesn't take much maths to work out that I made 40 pence on a cup of coffee and only 26 pence on a pint of beer. Those figures still hold good as tea and coffee make many more pence per serving than beer, wine or spirits at pub prices.
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

Spooky coincidence; only yesterday, having been thrown the accusation that I drink expensive posh coffee I worked out that because I choose to buy the beans and grind them, then bung 'em in a cafetiere it costs 4p a cup. Expensive?  shrugs:
Tasty?  happy088

Sounds good to me chief.  happy088

Snoops. I've seriously wondered about starting up me own mobile coffee shop up at the top of 'me 'ill. but suspect that DCC may have a different view on that. ::)
It'd make a fortune imo.

I could sell proper Growler CAKE up there too.  cloud9:

A licence would be the problem ~ even the ice cream sellers who go up to the car park in the summer have some difficulty gaining consent I am told.
The site is (i) Of "Historic Value" (See the monument) (ii) of outstanding natural beauty (see the designation AONB) and of course (iii) the Council own and operate the tea/cake shop at the bottom of the 'ill in Loggerheads Park and would rather you all went there. That is, of course, why there are several signposted "walks" that strangely all seem to lead you back down to the tea rooms at Loggerheads or to a nearby pub.

BUT yes there is money to be made out of selling coffee ~ the only reason for selling beer in most pubs is that people will drink more beer than they will coffee during an evening out. (See also mark-up on Soft Drinks and Orange Juice in particular)
