We also have the dubious pleasure of a fourth day of a bunch of morons shouting "Gerrin the hole" every time some twat swats a little white ball.

Why would you go and watch golf...? 
Same reason someone would go and watch snooker I guess.
No. Completely different IMHO.
In snooker you can watch the whole game (like on the telly but without close-up shots and camera-in-the-pocket shots)...
In golf you watch some bloke whack a ball into the distance... you can't see where it goes or where it lands... Your choice then is to stay where you are and watch another block whack a ball into the distance or follow the first bloke while he tries to find his ball and then watch him whack it again...um into the distance so you can't see where it goes or where it lands... Eventually, if you follow him long enough you will be able to see him putt the ball into the hole - repeat 18 times.
On the telly you can see him whack it, follow the path of the ball, watch it land and then watch others doing the same while the first bloke walks about... makes much more sense to me like...
Not that I ever watch golf or snooker on the telly...
