I was crewing on a yacht and we had come alongside the quay, I was still being shown the ropes (literally) and I was told to tie up using a particular knot (bowline) Could I do it?   

Spent five minutes, collected a small crowd of onlookers making assorted comments, none of which were particularly helpful. Finally someone took pity and did it for me. Got back on board and the skipper asked what that was all about.
