Turn the heating on low at about 4pm before the house gets cold. Then turn it up later if required.

These places are designed to be cold for 9 months of the year. In the winter, once they get very cold, it takes huuuuge amounts of heat to get them up to a cosy temperature. Me and the ex Mrs B used to put the heating on that little bit earlier and over the winter and our fuel bill was half that of the previous year with the place being just as warm if not more warmerer than before. That was in Kathikas where it does get bloody cold for a couple of months.  Thumbs:

Yes well...

The problem here is that my house is on me ill and is completely uninsulated...

So, the moment you remove the heat it is freaking freezing...

I calculated the there is 50,000Kg of concrete in my bedroom roof... if you know the specific heat capacity of concrete you can work out that you need a nuclear explosion to actually heat it up...
