You quickly (less than a year) acclimatise to the warmer weather meaning that the winters feel freezy when in fact they are remarkably mild compared to the UK.... Come November the locals are walking around in long sleeves, trousers and coats while the tourists are in shorts and tee shirts! Normally summer is fine - you just do things more slowly - this year has been exceptionally humid which makes the 'heatwave' seem much worse... it really was alike a sauna here today... I remember when I first came out chatting to a guy called Roy Froud (now sadly no longer with us) who had been here for years... he reckoned that it never used to be so humid and blamed the proliferation of swimming pools...
