It's not as daft as you might think Steve, 30mm of rainfall flowing downhill and collecting at the bottom of a hill over a few hours with little or no drainage as blockages are rarely cleared by the council, given the local terrain, could in some areas give limited 1 foot floods. I've worked in a couple of buildings down here where that has happened before.

I'm not saying it was like that across the entire county JOM, just in the places where the terrain is buggered enough and the council was stupid enough to allow building in an obvious flood path.

In all honesty I'll hazard a guess that the Mail picked up the story from a correspondent down here who jazzed it up to make it more exiting in the hope of getting more work. It wouldn't be the first time I've seen that happen, just look at the coverage whenever there is snow down here.
