Never ever buy a home without an immersion heater and never ever leave yourself without a fan heater.  Both rescued us again

yes

Failure one:  the condenser mini tank filled with water because the gas engineer that serviced it in January didn't spot or clear it of the gunge that collects

Failure two: the flap valve on the air inlet split jamming the inlet fan (actually it still just about worked)

Failure three: the Hive (web enabled heating control) lost its RF connection to the boiler because the RF repeater it damn well shouldn't need for a few metres got accidentally switched off in all this fucking about with building work

What failure four will be I don't know but I guess I will soon

Well, whatever, nevermind

Bizarre...  noooo:

I can't help but think the supposed increase in efficiency they give is offset by the billionteen repair vans that have to be constantly driving around the country to fix faults on them...

You really can't beat a good old fashioned cast iron open room boiler with a pilot light to go out and little else to go wrong....

It's one of those laws people forget.  The more complicated something is the more likely it inherently is to go wrong.  Another is anything new s more likely to go wrong than something that's old and proven

I can do the clever maths on that, I used to design and sign off safety critical systems and the number of times I'd have to explain those to people who'd ask "can we just . . . ."

And condenser boilers are yet another one of those "we must make it green" load of bollocks
Well, whatever, nevermind
