I'm meant to be flying from Gatwick on Friday ?  scared2: scared2: scared2:
Another holiday?  Getting away from this rubbish seems a very smart move

Anyway I'm sure TMR will be there to sort stuff.

Long weekend to Venice with the girlies  for one of their birthdays .

I'm sure TMR has enough on his plate at the minute  lol:

TMR is now off for 4 days. And will be drinking copious amounts of Guinness.

The inside word on what Friday will be like ranges from "looking tricky" to "complete clusterfuck, airport closed". What time is your flight?

12.35 BA flight to Venice

facepalm: Clapham's nice this time of year though...
And warmer than Venice https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/0/3164603

Thought Friday morning forecast was OK but late afternoon utter shitestorm
Well, whatever, nevermind

sad32: sad32: sad32:

Sorry  cry:

If you can get on an earlier flight - first wave (i.e. prior to 0830 when the plane is already there, having stayed overnight) then you might get away albeit delayed as the de-icing process can take up to 2 hours due to volumes. If the predicted severe snow/blizzards happen throughout Friday then there will be wholesale cancellations as the first wave outbound flights will not be allowed to return from their destinations until the weather improves.

I have recently been given "priveledged access" to a Gatwick App that allows me to see not only a minute-by-minute guide to the current state of play, but also what is expected in the next 1/2/4/8/16/24/48/72 hour period. All service providers are expressing little concealed concern that it will stop operations for a significant length of time. Significant being more than 3 hours.

I sent the Paphos bags out at 0620 this morning. It finally took off at 1148. This was because the bowser that was meant to service the waste/water on it had frozen solid and one of the back-ups also wouldn't start. When eventually Flight Care managed to get a working one to attend, the crew of the aircraft had to be changed as they would not be able to complete the sector within their maximum allowable hours. The Berlin EZY8209 recevied its bags at 0720 but didn't depart until nearer 1000 as it had to join the queue for de-icing on the Sierra taxiway "drive-through" de-icing rinks.

These delays were on a sunny (but quite nippy) day. If there is serious snowfall, then this was a mere taster.

And yes, I was wearing shorts today.
