Yes because a stuck pig is usually dead.

Pig sticking was a popular method of hunting wild pigs during the "colonial days" when Lancers would ride after the wild boar and attempt to spear them with their lances. My grandfather was apparently, by his own record, quite adept at this sport. A modern derivation of this skill can be seen when the Lancers show off at the Royal Tattoo and pick up rope quoites with their lances whilst at full gallop.

Weather Forecasters are spot on today. Grey, overcast, windy and wet ~ a thoroughly unseasonal day. I wonder what happened to the long, hot, harvest days of my childhood. I didn't imagine them, photos exist to prove that the August days really were sunny with bees buzzing in the hedgerows, farmers harvesting corn and small boys playing in the streams to keep cool.
