Crocodile: suppliers?
« on: July 03, 2008, 02:51:16 PM »
Africa Week at school (exchange of teachers).Food Day today. The Boy tried crocodile and pronounces it to be "yumster" (or somesuch).

I assume you can buy it here.......................

I tried the "Make it SNappy" joke but got a groan  noooo:

Spose I could get down the petshop and grow my own. What could possibly go wrong?

I'd be interested to know how many said it tasted like chicken.  That's the usual consensus. Much like Iguana.

There is a farm just on the outskirts of Bodfari (about three or four miles from here) that sells "rare breeds" meat including Ostrich, Crocodile, Wild Boar, Venison, and others.  So no need to internet, just visit your old chum Snoopy and I'll take you down there. Before you get carried away the meats are frozen so you are not going to see the animals. (They do not seem to have a website but are mentioned in other guides) Also there is a guy near Holywell who has a herd of Water Buffalo ..... which is the only form of beef that has never been affected by Mad Cow Disease (or so he tells me) He also sells the meat and cheese.
So if your tastes are for the exotic Snoopy knows the where and how. eyes:

Wild boar is very nice if you like strongly flavoured meat. Personally (and ignoring the obvious) I prefer it roasted.

I have been known, in the past, to spit roast it  eveilgrin:

Is that like Dr Strabismus (late of Utrecht)?

Presumably Mrs S #2 has never had a boar in cider

But then he isn't a Welsh farmer  noooo:

I think DS was referring to a popular TV show, from years long past, featuring, among others, "Clarence" the Cross Eyed Lion and not an invention of J.B.Morton (Beachcomber)
However Bodfari is a far cry from Daktari
