Skeet was invented by Charles Davies, an avid grouse hunter, in 1915 as a sport called Clock Shooting. The original course was a circle with a radius of 25 yards with its circumference marked off like the face of a clock and a trap set at the 12 o’clock position. The practice of shooting from all directions had to cease, however, when a chicken farm started next door.

I should think we'll get a few cycling medals.

Boxing and moaning medals as well methinks.

In fact I'm sure we will get loads of gongs this time.

I see the government doesn't believe in "it's the taking part that counts" either:

BBC Link

Sports minister Gerry Sutcliffe has told the BBC "it is vital" that Team GB reaches the target of 41 medals from the Beijing Olympics.
"That is a serious target," said Sutcliffe. "We want it to be achieved."

What is it about this government and 'targets'?

If they painted them on their backs I would certainly have a go.

In deference to the rules of 'The Commons', I should state that I am serious.  evil:

I understand the only new sport this time is BMX biking. BMfeckingX. I ask you.

How utterly pointless.

I wonder if we are any good at it.  rubschin:

If BMX biking can be an olympic sport then maybe we should try and get new 'sports' included that it would be a given the UK could win. The hundred meter drunken stagger to the kebab shop for example.
The universe is run by the complex interweaving of three elements. Energy, matter, and enlightened self-interest.
