Technically Job Seekers Allowance is not a benefit as it is not means tested. Income Support, Council Tax Benefit etc are and with them redundancy money is taken into account as are any savings, premium bonds, wife's income etc.

It is contribution based for a certain amount of time (mine stops in November) and then it becomes income based.
