True. Mind you looks like we have a good old fashioned declared war on our hands. No time for the UN to take off its Marigolds ready for some serious hand wringing.

Could all be sorted by teatime with a 5 figure butchers bill.

Oooh those russians.  boxing

Depends who weighs in on the Georgian side. Dubya may scent an opputunity to go out with a bang. After all, Iraq ia all but forgotten.

Brown may find an opputunity to hide in this as well. Lets go to war, it worked for Thatcher.

So do the Russians  noooo:

Georgia has already indicated that they would like to join NATO. It could get very nasty.

IMHO this is exactly what Putin wants, a reason to rebuild the USSR and confront the Yanks and Chinks again as a "Super Power".

It is 1930's Germany all over again. Recovery of so called "stolen lands" etc.

Indeed, and with immigration and nasty foreign people being high on the agenda I suspect we could be in trouble.

Time for every one to wake up to the fact that there will be three super powers in the world and the rest of us must align to one of them. We seem to have chosen the USA. Russia is proving the point that it is going to be one of the three and it is fairly obvious that China will be the third. France and to an extent Germany are playing out of their league if they think that their pitiful European "Superstate" will ever get into the play offs let alone a medal position.

An afterthought ~ Is there a great deal of difference between Russia invading Georgia, China invading Tibet or the USA invading Iraq? At least the Russians and Chines had the excuse that the invaded were next door and ethnically virtually the same as themselves. All the US had was  that he wanted to finish the job that his Dad had started.
