It was what the court thought fit and they, unlike us, had the benefit of hearing all the evidence.
Do not judge other countries standards by our own. In many Asian countries girls are married off a lot younger than the two that "accused" Glitter and nobody says a word. His "crime" in that particular country was in not paying the parents enough and having the British Press stirring things up.
I am not saying what he did was right ~ I am saying get it into context.
Points taken Snoopy however (sorry) I personally don't generally judge differently because of the location of the crime or what generally is acceptable there either - I feel he is wrong (as proved with the child pornography on his PC here) and I'm not going to allow him leniency in my mind because his crime was more acceptable (perhaps) there. He didn't want to come back here (for what ever reason) - its just a shame he did
Fair 'nuff. As I have said before I am not actually concerned with this pathetic old man and all the politicos and journalists spouting about him. I'd rather they got on with identifying others of similar intent that we don't yet know about. Glitter is finished anyway. He is far too well known to be a danger to anyone now.
Sorry Snoops I think I was a bit crabby there to you when I know you were really only making sensible comment - apologies from me to you extended
What riles me the most (currently) with this particular piece of human garbage is that because he may
now be a pathetic old man set to reside again in the UK because no other sensible country will allow him in it will more huge waste of UK £££'s spent in giving him (perhaps) medical treatment and other such rehabilitation malarkey
I don't think his 'celebrity' status (if that's what it is) stops him 'potentially' being a danger to anyone else in the future - he's a scare twisted nasty piece of work now and will 'probably' remain so until the end of his mortal days.
