 redface: redface:

I am ashamed to say I thought the picture was Teddy Kennedy and was preparing a quip about the lump not being in his throat.  redface:

Few film-makers these days could put together a little silent piece like that BTW.

Somewhat mawkish for my taste.

One wonders what a british filmaker would have made of it.

I think that is the point. Try raising our country's flag every day and you'll soon have the council round.

There is much I dislike about the Yanks but they at least take a pride in their country and their flag.

Our village war memorial stands at the side of the High Street and every November we hold a service around it. At 11am the local bobby plus a couple of volunteers stop the traffic either side of the memorial. The sh*t we get from some motorists is unbelievable. What is two minutes, once a year to remember the debt we owe? And if old men like to relive, with pride, their former days of wearing their country's uniform and pay homage to their comrades who didn't come back, I'm with them all the way.

Same round here.
