From Wiki: Incognito ("unknown", from Latin incognitus) may refer to:

Incognito (comparative more incognito, superlative most incognito)

Without being known; in disguise; in an assumed character, or under an assumed title

In this context however it is a facility in Chrome that allows browsing without, so they claim, leaving any trace.
Quote
Incognito mode is a browsing mode in Google Chrome that allows the user to surf the web without storing anything in browsing and download histories

Ctrl+Shift+N  whistle:

Of course an alternative is to set your pc to erase your history after each session. This takes care of the local records unless the "experts from forensics" get their hands on it.
I doubt that it (Chrome) will hide where you have been browsing from either Google or Government snoopers but it will prevent other users of your PC from seeing which porn sites you've been on.... as will the method described above.

Techie facto Chrome = Firefox  point:

Chrome is the Firefox browser with a few adaptations BM, mainly with the user interface.

You could always give this one a try, provided your machine can meet the specs..
