POWAQQATSI & KOYAANISQATSI
« on: April 30, 2007, 12:00:42 PM »
I?d never heard of these (released 1983 and 1988) until a friend introduced me to them about a year ago and I now find them to be essential, regular viewing material (watched KOYAANISQATSI again last night).

Not really a traditional movie with a script or anything but a series of images tied to an excellent soundtrack by Philip Glass. I find them extremely relaxing and thought provoking.

I won?t bother typing the sleeve notes here, you can read all about it on Amazon but I highly recommend them.

Five Thumbs!
 thumbsup: thumbsup: thumbsup: thumbsup: thumbsup:

PS it is a trilogy ? Naqoyqatsi came out in 2002 and is complete shite.

Doesn't look my sort of thing I'm afraid
Anyway I read more than watch.
Radio = All day and most of evening
Books = All of day and evening when not working or in here.
TV/DVDs/Videos = 'Bout 3 hours a week and then usually with a book to stop me getting bored
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

My, errrm, other local has a film night every week. Mainly arthouse or classics... Amarcord, Bicycle Thieves and the like.

Barman, why don't you nominate a DVD of the month and then we could all slag it off critically appraise it in Book Club styley? You could even play the 'Jim Naughtie' role to Wench's 'Mariella Frostrup' ripostes eeek:

An excellent idea indeed ? well done that man?  happ096

I?ll propose a film then (not necessarily death/war/violence), you all watch it and we can discuss ? like adults.  argue:

Hmmmnnn I can spot a tiny flaw in the otherwise well thought out plan?  rubschin:
