Excuses for absence

One of Mrs S#2's student failed to show this afternoon. Her friend however had the story to excuse her. "She is sorry but X cannot attend today as she is sitting in front of her fire nursing a sick cockerel."

 Has to be one of the more original excuses anyway.

Write it down somewhere... and ask the name of the cockerel...

That way X can't attend the funeral of the cockerel more than once...  ;)
