The problem is that there is bugger all difference in the political parties now so question time is meaningless apart from those rare occaisions when ain opposition MP has a question about something that directly affects their chances of keeping their seat.
Precisely...

That's why they should all go back to their constituencies and top themselves! Bastards!  cussing:

One suggestion that was made on the BBC site was to use the £50bn taxpayers money to pay off everyone's mortgages instead of paying the banking fat cats. Then a new banking system could be devised with a clean slate.    rubschin:

The sum involved seems to be £250 billion. Made up of the £50b to shore up the lenders' finances and the other £200b to support the Bank of England's efforts to "stabilise" matters.

Question is ~ where is the money coming from. This is the government that had to borrow £2.5 billion to pay for the 10pence tax cock up.
They don't have the money ~ they plan to borrow it against security of ................. future tax revenues. Genius!

The government is about the only institiution(?) that is good for any borrowing at the moment. Also there is no one else who would be prepared to lend to the banks for recapitalisation.

I see little choice in the matter.

I'll agree with you there, the buggers should all be institutionalised.  cussing:

Exactly and the only security they have to offer are our future taxes.

This seems a good time to trot out a Stephen Fry quote
