As for fencing lessons ~ two of mine have been having them for some time. I used to fence for the RAF.
No need for your  scared2: It is a completely safe sport. The "Swords" are blunt and have tips on them. Safety clothing is always worn. The discipline involved will do him good ~ any fvcking about and he'll be thrown out. Like Judo, other martial arts and shooting the first lessons are all about safety and not misusing your skills.
