Help wanted
« on: October 16, 2008, 10:03:30 AM »
As a fully paid up technophobe who freely admits to knowing nothing about "Gaming" and who has in the past bought all 3 children Micro Gameboys I have been asked to supply a Wii for Christmas this year. I know nothing about these things. I have ordered a Wii consol which comes complete with two controllers and Wii Sports. What else are they going to need to be up and running on Dec 25th?

I do realise that one can get many "games" but those will be a matter for them at a later stage.

However do I need for instance to buy any "bats", "raquets" "steering wheel looking thingies" at this stage or will they be able to play with what I have got on order.

I do not wish to get involved with spotted youths in PC World or Currys so look to the more senior gathering here present for guidance.

Also will they be able to "Plug in and play" or do I need further instruction?

No that should be enough to get started.

Don't bother with the "bats" and "racquets"  ~ waste of money. A steering wheel might be useful if you later buy a driving game.

For many games a secondary controller is needed http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nintendo-Wii-Nunchuk-Controller-add/dp/B000IMYKQ0

It's very easy to set up ~ plug and play through a scart socket.

enjoy.

Phew ~ thank you so very much.

Now we just have to come up with an idea for the THW.
Though the way things are going a visit to the Family Planning Clinic might be a good move  ::)

Unc has the right of it. The nunchuck may come with it anyway, mine did. I would also recommend a charging unit for the handsets as this will save on batteries in the long run.

You may surprise yourself Snoops the Wii is a very 'social' bit of kit.

Just a word of warning on the charging kits - they are known to screw up the controllers. This has happened to both mine and a friend who bought a different model.

Resulting in having to purchase another bloody controller at the energy saving price of £29.99  evil:

Apart from that even I could set it up.... lol:

Another thing you may need is a memory card but don't buy the Wii version as they are a rip off and it will work with any make of SD card.
